ALL ABOUT KIMMY’S
Hi, I’m Kimmy — founder, baker, barista, and the heart behind Kimmy Loves Cake.
Believe it or not, I started my working life as a forensic analyst. It was fast paced and super interesting, but deep down, I craved something more creative. In 2011, I made the leap and followed my passion for baking.
My inspiration came from my travels around America, where I fell head over heels for their big, bold approach to baking with indulgent flavours, generous portion sizes, and a true love for sweet treats. Back home, I started experimenting in my kitchen, blending that American inspiration with my own style, and soon, Kimmy Loves Cake was born.
Kimmy Loves Cake started as a takeaway bakery, and for six years, we built a loyal following who couldn’t get enough of our handmade cakes and sweet treats. That love and support gave us the confidence to open a full coffee shop in 2017, and just eight weeks later I had my first baby! Two years (and another baby) later, we were still going strong.
Those seven years in the coffee shop were a whirlwind full of highs, lots of chaos, growth, and incredible customers. But eventually, I realised that my heart wasn’t in running a large café anymore. What I missed most was being at the heart of it all: baking, chatting with customers, and serving up cake with a side of coffee and community.
So I’ve gone back to my roots a mini takeaway cake and coffee shop, where I’m once again hands-on in the kitchen, behind the counter, and loving every minute. It’s a return to what made me fall in love with baking in the first place: simple, delicious joy shared one slice at a time.
